  1. The United States should end the war in Afghanistan

Plan: The United States should withdraw all of its military troops from Afghanistan.

Advantage 1 – Proposed plan would reduce the national debt and allow for a balanced budget.

The overall national debt has climbed rapidly since 2001. The U.S. national debt currently stands at $15.5 trillion. Increasing national debt will eventually force higher interest rates and increased taxes, both of which will hinder overall economic growth.

U.S. spending on the war in Afghanistan has been a large contributor to the increasing national debt. Since 2001, the United States military has spent over $500 billion in Afghanistan, including more than $6.5 billion each month since 2009. According to the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments, more than one million dollars is required to deploy one U.S. soldier to Afghanistan for one year.

An immediate withdrawal of U.S. military troops from Afghanistan will effectively end the war in Afghanistan, decrease the rate at which the national debt is increasing and allow Congress to decrease the overall military budget in upcoming years. Reducing America’s military budget is a key component of reducing our debt and achieving a balanced budget for upcoming years.

  2. The United States should end the war in Afghanistan
Advantage 1- The gas prices are still high so the military being across seas is not helping the government take over foreign oil and taxes can be lowered instead of being spent to babysit a foreign country.
Advantage 2- If the United States removes our troops there will be a great amount of money that will not be used that can go to other things that are affecting our country.

  3. Policy – The United States should end the war in Afghanistan
Advantage 1 – Would end the wounded and casualty rate for American troops.
Currently the amount the deaths attributed the Afghan Conflict has been estimated at around 2000 while the amount of wounded have been estimated at a staggering 15000 troops. Ending the war in Afghanistan can ultimately end the amount of wounded and dead soldiers by withdrawing them back into American society. It will end their need to fight and in turn, allow them to live a normal life.
Advantage 2 – Would lower the military budget for the United States.
According to the Congressional Research Service, the projected total cost relating to the Afghan conflict since 2001 is estimated at around 500 billion dollars with the monthly cost of around 8 billion. To deploy one US soldier is Afghanistan even costs around 1 million dollars. Ending the conflict in Afghanistan will allow the government to lower the military budget which in turn would allow the excess money to begin lowering our national debt and begin to rebuild the fractured economy. It would allow us to focus on domestic issues instead of oversea conflicts which bare a little effect on the general American public.

  5. Policy: The United States should end the war in Afghanistan
    Advantages:
Muslims perceive America as a threat to their culture. So it motivates some people to join organizations, for example Al Qaeda and its bodies. This results in desire and intentions to attack US and its people. Afghanistan’s war just supports and expands terrorism and its activities and therefore I stand for the opinion that ending the war will lead to the decrease of terroristic activities and treats connected with the USA.

Another reason is debt of this country that the USA cannot properly handle. This country is just getting more and more into debt and this results in the USA’s bad image and quality of life. Devaluating of dollar makes the country and its people poorer.

The last, but not the least, the original purpose of the Afghanistan war has been fulfilled. So why is the US army still there? It’s time for the US to change its politics from war and violence oriented to something more suitable for its image and mainly for its people that want to be proud of their country.

  6. Policy: The United States should end the war in Afghanistan.

Advantage 1: The public morale of the United States would increase and the trust in "the government" would increase and the confidence in our president and military would also increase. The families that have been affected by this war would be the greatest to increase morale.

Advantage 2: The military funding would possibly decrease and it would make the citizens of the United States make likely to be willing to pay taxes in other, more important areas. Many people already think that the war in Afghanistan has been over for a long time and that the troops should have been pulled out years ago; these are usually the people that complain about gas prices increasing. According to these particular people all of the price increases across the nation have to do with the war in Afghanistan.

  7. Policy: The United States should end the war in Afghanistan and bring the troops home

Advantage 1: since the war in afghanistan has begun our nations debt has tripled to nearly 16 trillion dollars. By pulling the troops out of the war and bringing them home we can stop spending the nearly 8 billion dollars a month that our nation is spending to put our troops in harms way for no reason. This would reduce our rapidly increasing debt and save the lives of our troops and let them get back to living their lives without being in constant terror.

Advantage 2: By bringing the troops back we will be able to reduce our spending and put our money back into our country and try to repair the damage that our nation's debt is causing. The money can be put back into our country and try to start eliminating some of the debt that we have created. Instead of putting our soldiers in battle and getting them killed, we will have the capability to help out those families who have been affected by the war and help get our country out of the terrible economic status that it has fallen to. We can get the USA back to the great country that is has been in the past.

    Stand Your Ground

Necessity: As it stands, the "Stand your Ground" law, in Florida, should be repealed as it protects citizens lethally harming others if they can demonstrate threatened feelings, even when the aggressor runs away from the aggressed.

Policy: The law should be amended to prevent the threatened citizen from pursuing the aggressor if the aggressor no longer poses a threat or is in the act of committing a forcible felony.

Benefit: This will reduce the number of killings that mask their unjustified vengeance with 'self-defense.' Stand your ground says the citizen does not have a duty to retreat, but this does not grant the right to pursue.

  9. The United States should end the war in Afghanistan

Plan: THE USFG should withdraw all troops from Afghanistan.
    Implementation: USFG Department of Defense
    Funding: Defense Spending
Agent of Action: Leon E. Penetta

    Advantage 1:Economy
The national debt is currently close to $16 million dollars and continues to climb each year. We have spent over $500 billion dollars on the War in Afghanistan, and the progress shows little improvement in the years ahead. According to TexansforPeace, the cost of war exceeds the cost of development. They argue that The money being spent on the War on Afghanistan is not helping the people. While the war continues to progress, the infrastructure of Afghanistan is still continuing to be destroyed. If we withdraw troops from Afghanistan we can significantly help the economy and save American tax payers money.

    Advantage 2: Peaceful Afghanistan
A clear majority of Afghan citizens want soldiers to leave their country, despite the inherent security risks. The ongoing occupation does nothing to help the people of those
nations to develop their own society, nor ends the violence and corruption prevalent in the Afghan government. The ongoing war and occupation only advances the aims of those who profit from the circumstances and will not lead to a peaceful Afghanistan.

  10. Policy: The United States should end the war in Afghanistan.

Advantage 1: The proposed policy is a reflection of - and reaction to - the American public's will.

According to the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, statistical figures over the past decade indicate public concern with terrorism is declining, while the budget deficit is gaining attention as the top policy priority among Americans.
In addition to this finding, the Pew Research Center also reports Americans favor removing U.S. troops as soon as possible "...by a wide 56% to 38% margin."

Advantage 2: The economic costs of the war would be significantly reduced, which might help alleviate our national debt and secure American interests.

According to the Chicago Tribune, "..each of the 100,000 U.S. troops on the ground in Afghanistan costs about $775,000 a year to deploy."
The Pew Research Center found that "...every partisan group, including 55% of conservative Republicans, said 'the U.S. 'should pay less attention to problems overseas and concentrate on problems here at home.'" For the same amount of money spent on each soldier in Afghanistan, we can pay around 10 policemen to protect our domestic interests.
The Chicago Tribune also reports that the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have collectively cost the U.S. "...an estimated $2.3 trillion, with future costs for veterans and families estimated at an additional $884 billion."

  11. The Stand Your Ground Law in Florida should be repealed.

Necessity: The Law promotes vigilante activity since the citizens start to carry out laws and punishments on their own. It also promotes prejudices brought out by racial stereotypes.

Policy: The Law should either be taken away entirely or amended to where the accuser needs to show prove that there was immanent threat involved and necessary actions were taken.

Benefit: This will create a less threatening atmosphere in general and will put more importance on the police instead of vigilante justice.

  12. Necessity: The war in Afghanistan has dragged on for over ten years costing over $516,155,077,037.
Necessity: American prestige and Military might has been seen as incapable of completing the mission of defeating the Taliban. As a direct result of our lack of commitment to defeating the Taliban other rogue nations and groups have been encouraged to defy the United States.
Necessity: Irans defiance of international regulation to prevent the proliferation of Nuclear weapons is a direct result of the failed policy of limited war in afghanistan.

Policy: The United States should end the war in Afghanistan with an all out effort to destroy the Taliban wherever they hide with a massive military campaign.

Benefits: large war efforts will domestically grow jobs in the economy this will effectively bring the country out of the current depression in the same manner it did in 1940.
Benefits: Rogue nations, such as Iran will see first hand what it is for the United States to put forth its full military capability and will be less likely to defy international pressures toward non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.
Benefits: US national prestige and commitment to national goals will not be doubted.

  13. Policy: The U.S. should end the war in Afghanistan.

    Benefit 1:
The war in Afghanistan is taking up a major part of our budget, allowing these funds to be freed up would give us a better chance at balancing our budget in the future. We have had issues with our National debt and eventually that will have consequences just like it would to a kid with its first credit card.

    Benefit 2:
Ending the war frees up more than just the monetary resources but frees up others as well. Reallocation of these resources could drastically change our own domestic problems. For instance all of the mental power that is being used on the war would now be put back on other problems that may benefit us more here domestically.
